Samsung is working on a smartphone that is equipped with as display offering resolution of 768 x 1280 (WXGA). This bit of news comes from a Korean website called Moveplayer.

The handset is known by the model name SHV-120S.

Here's what we "know" about this model:

  • It will run Android 2.3
  • It will have a Qualcomm MSM8250 single-core 1GHz processor under the hood.
  • It can handle 16 million colors.

The information was discovered in a registration made to SK Telecom's T Store Developer Center.

This might be exclusively an Android model or it might be both an Android and Windows 8 compatible phone.

Time will tell...

1280 by 768 gives the same aspect ratio as 800 by 480. That would be a logical high end screen resolution option for Windows Phone 8.
